Responsibilities include:

  • Listen to voice-recorded medical reports and transcribe them into written documents, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and adherence to specific formatting guidelines.
  • Possess a strong understanding of medical terminology, abbreviations, and jargon to accurately transcribe medical reports.
  • Review and edit transcriptions for errors, inconsistencies, and completeness, and make necessary corrections.
  • Ensure transcribed documents meet quality and accuracy standards, and maintain data confidentiality.
  • Properly organize and archive transcribed medical reports for easy retrieval and reference.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to clarify dictations and resolve any transcription-related queries.
  • Adhere to relevant privacy and confidentiality regulations, such as HIPAA, to protect patient information.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven work experience as a Medical Transcriptionist or similar role
  • Ability to transcribe accurately and maintain a minimum typing speed of 65 words per minute
  • Experience with specialized transcription equipment and voice recognition software, including WebChartMD and PhraseExpander
  • In-depth knowledge of medical terminology and jargon, as well as editing practices
  • Keen attention to detail in order to not compromise patient care
